Welcome

I’m a British translator working from French and German into English and I specialise in literary and commercial texts. My creative projects include poetry, contemporary fiction, and non-fiction narratives. My commercial specialisms are retail, marketing, and business.

My experience includes:

Literary translation: proposals and translation samples for publishers of fiction, non-fiction, and comic books

Commercial translation: reports, market surveys, contracts and legal documents, promotional material, and website content

Creative domains: photography, food & drink, retail & textiles

I was highly commended for my translation of Rim Battal’s ‘Halal’ in the open category of the 2022 Stephen Spender Prize for poetry in translation and I won a commendation prize for first-time entrants in the 2020 Stephen Spender Prize. Translating the poem in tandem with writing the commentary was invaluable, as it illuminated the translation task and steered me through the decision-making process. My translation of Luisa Maureen Chillinski’s ‘Strawberry Kitsch’ was also selected for the new online literary magazine, Feral Woman.

Along with translating, my other language services are post-editing, reviewing, and proofreading. I’m also available to translate samples for foreign language publishers and to write reader’s reports for English language publishers who have an interest in French and/or German titles.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you think I’d be right for your project.
